Another Example of how a book saved someone’s life is from Hitler’s book “MKPF” or “Mein Kampf.” A Jew named Max, son of Erik Vandenburg, is saved because he is given a fake identity just because he had the book “Mein Kampf” with him. The Nazi soldiers just assumed Max was not a Jew and that he cared for Hitler, this assumption was only created because it was Hitler’s book that Max had with him. The truth was that what the book really was were pages painted over and a book written by Max.
The message being told by the author here is that a book’s cover is a very important aspect of a book. The way a book is presented changes people’s opinion on whether they want to pull it off the shelf or not. As seen with Max, it also changes the way someone looks at someone else. For example, if a teen is walking around with a textbook they are assumed to be a student where in reality they could be a drop-out returning his/her books. |
